Walter Henry Backus, born to Dorothy and Donald Backus on August 12, 1955, was a man of many talents and a loving presence in the lives of those around him. He found joy in various crafts, particularly woodworking, and throughout his life, he held several different jobs, including working with livestock.
Walter had a special connection with John Raff, and he cherished the moments spent helping him. He was married to Maryann in 1973, and they welcomed two sons, Mark and Joshua, into their lives. Although their paths eventually diverged, the love and memories they shared remained.
In 1984, Walter met Gloria Bolles, and in December 2000, they joined their lives in marriage. He became a caring father to his sons, Mark Backus, Joshua Backus, and John Bolles. Walter's caring nature extended beyond his immediate family; he played a crucial role in raising his niece, Kristy Yacoubian, and was a steadfast friend to many.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria, his sons, Mark, Joshua, John and their families. His legacy includes 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Diller, his father, Donald Backus, his sister, Jessie Perryman, and his brothers, Joey, David, Kevin Backus, and Tim Hall.
Kristy Yacoubian, a cherished niece, and a dear friend, was a part of Walter Backus's life, adding warmth and love to the family. She brought joy and companionship to the Backus household and created lasting memories with her uncle, Walter.
Walter Henry Backus, will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
