Steve Roy Workman

August 1, 1958 — February 19, 2026

Never in a million years did we expect to have to say goodbye to our dad this soon… this way… Our daddy, our hero, our biggest supporter passed away peacefully Thursday night (2/19/26) surrounded by love. We lost an incredible man but heaven gained an incredible angel.

Our dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer, a very rare and very aggressive form of cancer almost a year ago this month. When we found out the news about his diagnosis, we were crushed, our world shattered before our eyes. The reality of this type of cancer was scary. Very little treatment options and an average of 3 to 6 months to live.. Our daddy started treatment immediately, ready to FIGHT and that’s exactly what he did for as long as he could. This last year he fought hard despite many more serious health obstacles he faced. He fought for himself and more so for our family. He never gave up hope. We got more time together than we expected and for that, we are so grateful. Selfishly we wanted much more time together. This disease may have taken his body, but it NEVER took his spirit.

Our dad was the most incredible man, truly one of a kind. He was generous - always willing to help others, hilarious and silly - oh how he made us laugh and so quick on his feet, an animal lover - animals were always drawn to him, a hard worker- retiring from USPS as a mail carrier after 37 years, and a family man - He LOVED us girls (Jill his wife and daughters, Kelsey and Bryenna) and LOVED his precious grandbabies (Wesson and Stetson).

Our dad was our biggest fan and always supported us, never judged, always listened. We have been blessed to have had such an amazing man guide us, teach us, and be a role model for how we should love each other, be there for each other, support each other.

Oh how we are going to miss this man, his smile, his blue eyes, his laugh, just his presence. There is a hole in our hearts that will never heal, but we will slowly start to build around it. Our dad is in a much better place and doing what he loved, anything outdoors including camping, hunting and fishing with his brother Dan.

Even though he isn’t with us physically, we know he will always be here with us, watching over us until we are together again. What a special day that will be when we are all reunited. Until then, we will keep his memory alive, share stories, and remember the amazing times we have shared together. We love you daddy and we miss you.

Our dad didn’t want any services, he wanted everyone to remember him for who he was, cherish the memories and times you had with him. Please make any donations to HopeWest. They were amazing and took incredible care of our dad.
