Rodney Grant Copley, 56, was involved in a motorcycle accident and passed away doing
what he loved on May 20th, 2023. He was born in Selma, Alabama to Fred W. Copley (deceased)
and Joyce K. Wolter (deceased) on July 21, 1966. Rod is survived by his long-term girlfriend
Carrie Scholl, his daughter Kaicy Copley, 27, his son Michael Holter, 35, his three grandsons
Ryler Holter, 14, Royce Holter, 9, Reggie Holter, 2, and his Uncle Duane Copley, 76.
Growing up in New Jersey, Rod spent most of his time fixing up old cars with his father Fred
and his Uncle Duane. As the years pressed on, he put his handy work to good use by building
homes, continuing to restore old classic cars, and customizing his own motorcycles. He never
met a job that he did not know how to complete.
His life took him to many different places, but he always said he loved his time in Minnesota
the most. He loved to talk about his memories of bass fishing and snowmobiling. When he did
make his way back to Colorado his free time was filled with frequent trips to the Sturgis
Motorcycle Rally, camping, and tinkering in his shed on many different projects. Recently, he
was restoring three Harley Davidson motorcycles, and was especially proud of his 1976
Shovelhead. He was also working on a golf cart that he was planning on cruising around Sturgis
to show off his handy work, and he had been fine tuning his 1977 Square-body Chevy truck.
Although Rod’s life was short, it was filled with many adventures. He was always
surrounded by outstanding people who cherished him for who he was. Everyone who knew him
would agree that although he was often stoic, he was a straightforward man who lived his life
for himself regardless of others’ opinions. He will be deeply missed but is with us always.
Rod was cremated per his wishes. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday July 22nd,
2023. The location has not been determined, but if you are interested in attending, please
reach out to obtain the details.
