Robert E. Kievit

September 10, 1947 — May 21, 2025

Robert Edward Kievit, 77, of Grand Junction passed away on May 21, 2025 at his home with his wife by his side following a 9 year battle with vascular dementia, which he fought with grace and dignity while suffering through this horrible disease. Bob grew up in Passaic, NJ and moved to Houghton, MI to attend Michigan Tech prior to serving in the Navy on an aircraft carrier during Vietnam. Following his service, he moved to Gainesville, FL where he graduated with a BS in Environmental Engineering. He spent his career as an environmental engineer with the EPA in Olympia, WA where he played a major role as project manager for superfund sites. Bob loved mountain climbing where he spent many hours speeding through the Olympic Mountains (earning the nickname, Bullet Bob) as well as traveling to climb throughout the Americas, Europe, and Africa. He also enjoyed poker nights with his friends, playing cribbage (which he rarely lost at), raising his sons while sharing a beer or three over a game of pool or bowling, and being a grandpa. He will be remembered for his bright, blue eyes, his perseverance, and his love of the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Anderson, sisters, Daine Kaiser and Kathy Rosendahl, sons, Dylan Kievit and Forrest Kievit, and grandchildren, Huxley Kievit and Itzel Hernandez. He was preceded in death by his father, Orrie Kievit, and mother, Kathryn Holovach.
