Richard L. "Rick" Dinges

Richard L. “Rick” Dinges, 66, of Fruita, Colorado passed away with family by his side on August 17, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.

Rick was born January 1, 1956, in Hays, Kansas to Leroy and Elizabeth (Schnatterly) Dinges. He graduated from Hays High School with the Class of 1975, and met Dorene Hake soon after. New jobs led them to Denver, Colorado, where they were married February 14, 1980. They welcomed their son, Levi, on March 26, 1989. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four wheeling and motorcycling in the Colorado mountains, especially with Levi. He retired as a Denver Sheriff Deputy in 2015, and moved to Fruita to enjoy retirement with Dorene.

Rick is survived by his wife Dorene of 42 years; his son Levi (Victoria), and grandsons Logan and Kaleb, of Wesley Chapel, FL; his mother, Betty Dinges, of Hays; seven sisters, Terri Rupp (Bruce), Hays, KS, Sharon Wasinger (Roxanne Witmer), Pueblo West, CO, Mary Jane Arnhold (Tim), Loveland, CO, Michelle Dietrich (Fred), Wamego, KS, Lucy Barnes (Howard), Julie Rider (Kurt), and Betsy Forinash (Brian), all of Hays; along with many siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy, and his brothers, Cliff and Chris.

A graveside service and inurnment will be held at a later date at St Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
