Peyton Leigh Smith

Peyton Leigh Smith, affectionately known as "Pey Pey," went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 10, 2026. She passed away peacefully at home in Molina, Colorado, surrounded by her family, after a brave two-year battle with cancer.

Born on July 21, 2014, in Lamar, Colorado, to James and Rebekka Smith, Peyton filled every room with sunshine. Growing up as one of five children, Peyton shared an incredible bond with her brothers and sisters—between the five of them, life was filled with constant fun, endless laughter, and an abundance of love.

Imaginative, curious, and fun-loving, she loved being outdoors, riding horses, barrel racing, and showing sheep, pigs, and bucket calves at county fairs. She was pure sweetness and joy, she loved making others smile, always cherishing her family, friends, and her dog, Boots.

Above all else, Peyton was a faithful follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – asking Jesus to save her in April 2022. Despite the trials she endured, she never thought of herself—boldly asking others if they knew Jesus and praying for other children.

Peyton is survived by her loving parents, James and Rebekka Smith; her brothers, Ethan and Avery; her sisters, Camdyn and Rylee; her grandparents, Jim and Sandra Smith of Henderson, NV, and Dan and Vickie Neuhold of Lamar, CO; her great-grandmothers, Doris Smith of Delta, CO, and Mary Mathis of Bay Springs, MS; and a large, adoring family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 395 31 5/8 Rd, Grand Junction, Colorado 81504, beginning with a family service at 10:00 AM and opening to family and friends at 10:30 AM. Lunch will follow in the church fellowship hall, with a graveside service afterward in Mesa, Colorado.
