Nathan "Nate" Mitchell Jones

April 2, 2001 — September 4, 2024

Nathan "Nate" Mitchell Jones, born on April 2, 2001, brought a light to this world that will continue to shine for years to come. Nathan lost his life on September 4, 2024, while doing what he loved most- working in his career as an LTC Trainee 5 for the Colorado Department of Transportation. Nathan's journey had just begun, yet he proudly earned his CDL ahead of his training group, proving that his enthusiasm for his work was only matched by his remarkable talent.

A Central High School graduate and proud alumnus of WCCC, where he obtained his Automotive Service Technician Certification, Nathan was not only gifted with am aptitude for mechanics but also blessed with a heart of gold. He was the quintessential caring sprit, always spotted with a smile on his face, ready to lend a hand. Nathan loved working on vehicles for his mother, friends and himself. He helped rebuild a 1969 VW Bug Engine at the age of 18. He was so proud of that Volkswagen Bug, his 1984 Mazda Truck and all of the handyman skills he taught himself. We will never forget how he beamed with pride as he taught himself how to fix the household air conditioner. Whether it was working on his vehicles in the driveway, playing handyman, watching the birds at his many bird feeders, camping under the stars, hiking through the lush forest, or fishing at the lakes-his beloved hobbies reflected his love of nature and family time. Nathan loved his family and was proud to be the provider for his Mother and youngest brother. He will be truly missed, he gave without complaining, he was an example, guide and father figure for his siblings teaching them to have love and patience for all those around them as well as vehicle maintenance, handyman skills and confidence in their abilities to reach for their goals and achieve them.

As a dedicated Eagle Scout, Nathan served as a mentor to many scouts, instilling a love for the great outdoors and a commitment to service in younger generations. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him can undoubtedly attest that he made everyone's day just a bit brighter. Easygoing and positive, he believed life was too short for anger, paving his days with kindness and warmth. When someone was upset around him Nathan would say "Can you change it? If so, then do it, if not, than why are you letting it bother you?" Nathan proudly served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from March 2020 through February 2022, in the Baltimore Maryland area. He had a love for his Savior. When asked if he would serve a mission again, he said "Yes, as long as it wasn't over COVID again."

On September 4, 2024, Nathan was called to serve a mission in Heaven. Nathan leaves behind a heartfelt legacy of giving, memorable moments, and the proud accomplishments of earning his Eagle Award and facing an automotive career with promising beginnings. He is survived by his family: his mother, Wendy; father, Rick; brothers Jordan and Joseph, sisters; Alyssa and Leslie, along his with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of close friends.
