Nancy Christine Green

December 7, 1960 — March 12, 2024

Nancy Herrera Green was born in Grand Junction in 1960 and spent her life living, loving, and
laughing on the Western Slope of Colorado. As the youngest of 10 children, Nancy had a
profound love and passion for family, a passion she translated into her life’s work as an
elementary school librarian where she extended the concept of family to encompass all children
who entered her library. Nancy crafted her library to be a space of wonder and delight where
children loved being and where they developed a lifelong love for reading. Nancy also loved
cooking and shared the produce of this passion with family, friends, and coworkers. Nancy
attended Zion Assembly of God.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Jose Amarante and Nora Herrera; brothers Roy
Herrera, Dave Martinez, and Robert Herrera; sister Sadie Roybal; and niece Doreen Sanchez.
Nancy is survived by her much-loved husband of 40 years Steven Green; beloved children
Cortney and Ridge; sisters: Bella Lovato, Noemi Gallegos, Betty Ruble, and Esther Espinoza;
brother Rudy Herrera, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A celebration of life for Nancy will be held at Jubilee Family Church April 2nd at 1:00 p.m.
