Michael Steven "Mike" Clary, known to so many as "Big C," passed away on October 20, 2026, in Grand Junction, Colorado, at the age of 76. He was born in Wichita, KS to Jack and Gertrude Clary.
Mike came by the name “Big C” honestly. Yes, he was a big guy, but everyone who knew him understood it was really about the size of his heart. He never met a stranger, he was friendly to everyone, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for his family.
He was happiest with everybody gathered at the house, music playing and the grill going, cooking up his famous Clary steaks for whoever came through the door. More often than not, the music was Jimmy Buffett. Being a lover of music and a lifelong Parrothead, Mike never needed a beach to find his Margaritaville. He was also a devoted Colorado sports fanatic who stuck with all the teams through every season, good and bad.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gertrude Clary, and his sister, Marg (John) Bailey.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathy; his four daughters, Korbie (Eddie) Godfrey, Windie (Brandun) Weeden, Jodie (Chad) LaFrenz, and Heidie Hendricks; his six grandchildren, Jordan, Averee, Trace, Eddie, Carter, and Reace. We Love you Dad and Papa!
Per Mike's wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Please no flowers at this time.
So turn up the Buffett, fire up the grill, and raise a can of the blue mountains to Big C.
