Melanie Gaye Doody

January 20, 1954 — April 18, 2024

Grand Junction, CO

Melanie Gaye Doody, a cherished wife, stepmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on April 18th 2024, in Grand Junction, CO.

Melanie was the loving wife of James “Jimbo” Doody for 38 years. Together, they enjoyed skiing, traveling, camping, fishing, boating and embarking on adventures on their Harley. They both had a love for life’s simple pleasures and cherished every moment together and as a family with daughter Jayme. Melanie’s love and support was instrumental in Jim’s dream coming true to create the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park in Fruita, CO, honoring those who have served our country.

Melanie was passionate about animals and particularly loved horses and dogs. In the 40 years of dedicated service in her career as a groomer she formed countless, lasting bonds with her furry clients and their owners. Melanie also found joy in barrel racing, exercising racehorses, and just spending time with her four-legged companions.

Melanie was preceded in death by her mother Audrey Nicholson, father Don Busey and stepfather Gay Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband Jim, stepdaughter Jayme Jade (Will) Verish, brother Danny Busey, sisters Vicki Nielson and Donna King, nieces Kim Carroll, Anna King, Danielle Palmer, nephews Riley King, Joshua Busey, Tony Carroll and her sweet little pup Hero.

Melanie leaves behind a legacy of love for her family, laughter that could ignite any room and many cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
