Mary Edith Colby

Our mother, Mary Edith Colby, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, surrounded by her family and love. After graduating from Craig High School in 1965, Mary attended college in Rangely alongside her cousin Sandy, and they went on to work together at St. Mary's Hospital.

 After returning to Craig, she went on to marry a handsome fellow, David Colby. After the birth of their daughter, Tanya, they moved to Grand Junction. Mary worked in various positions before establishing an in home daycare, which she ran for many years, allowing her to be home with her four children-Tanya, Carl, Anita, and James-all of whom survive her. 

Mary has been reunited with so much of her family-her father, Earl, and her beloved mother, Juanita, as well as thirteen of her aunts and uncles - together with many cousins and friends who are now breaking bread at the largest family gathering Mary has ever hosted. 

Mary embraced her family and all who knew her with an open heart, carrying on the Counts tradition of large dinners, and above all, loved her family dearly.
