Lynne Joan Lowdermilk

Lynne Joan Lowdermilk, 87, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Rifle, Colorado on August 29, 2026.

Lynne was the youngest of five children born to Clifford Frank and Esther Lorene (Brush) Ament, on the Starr Nelson Ranch near Cory, Colorado, on April 28, 1939. She spent her childhood playing with her sister, brother, and cousins on a fruit farm in Cedaredge and graduated from Cedaredge High School in 1957. Lynne married the love of her life, Darrell Lee Lowdermilk, on December 7, 1958. Together they had three daughters, and Lynne became a stay at home mom.

In 1975, Lynne went to work at the KWSR 690 AM radio station in Rifle, and then at Claggett Memorial Hospital where she put her skills to good use as a receptionist in the E.R., and as a clerk in the accounting department. She retired in 1997. Lynne loved beautiful things and worked tirelessly to keep her home, flowers, and landscaping nice. She loved reading books and poetry, doing all kinds of arts and crafts, and spending time outdoors with her husband and family. She expressed her love through food and was an excellent cook and baker.

Lynne was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a loyal friend. She valued hard work, responsibility, integrity and grit, and instilled those traits in her children. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lynne was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her siblings Lorraine Core, Audrey Young, Janeth Murphy, and Loren Ament; and her grandson Joseph Byers. She is survived by her daughters Janet Tharp, Cathi (David) Byers, DiAnna (Steven) Harris; grandchildren Brian Murphy, Brent (Deanne) Murphy, Lisa (Steve) Dalley, Nicole (Chris) Dudley, Brittany (Jed) Grant, BriAnna (Mark) Anderson, Kristin Byers, Dan (Rachel) Byers; sixteen great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was deeply loved and will be missed by many.
