The family of Lura Jean Trumbo (Tissie) of Grand Junction is saddened to announce her passing at HopeWest Hospice on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at the age of 97. She was born on September 15, 1928 in Stonington, Colorado. She was the daughter of Margaret and George (Mike) Gillespie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother and her husband, John Trumbo.
Tissie was a great role model who lived her life as a selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. A beacon of hope who would never give up on anything or anyone.
She enjoyed bowling, playing cards with friends and family and later in her life taking rides with her sisters with the theme being "let's see where this road goes". After raising her family she decided to go to work and found employment at Animal Medical Clinic in Grand Junction as the office manager where she worked for 18 years, retired and a few days later decided she wanted to work again and was rehired and worked another 15 years. She really enjoyed working there with the vets and the animals that came in except when someone brought in a snake. Tissie did not like snakes.
She is survived by her children Daryl Trumbo, Jana Forsgren, Kevin Trumbo, Brian Trumbo, Tressa Trumbo, three brothers, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Cremation will be handled by Snyder Memorials in Grand Junction. She will be laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia, Colorado with a service for her family members.
