James A. DuBois

James Alex DuBois, beloved husband and friend, was born June 17, 1940, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Frank and Rose DuBois. After graduating from Albuquerque High School in 1958, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Leroy Wilson out of San Diego, California, until 1959. Then he was transferred to Moffett Field. In 1961 he completed his naval service, but continued to serve in the Naval Reserves until 1964.

Jim moved to Denver taking a job with Martin Company working in the accounting and computer department as a System Financial Analyst until retirement in 1995. Jim met Marjorie Fitterer after a ski trip at the Red Ram in Georgetown, Colorado. They were married in September 1973 in Aurora, Colorado and lived in Denver until moving to Grand Junction in 1995.

Jim loved the out-of-doors and he and Marge enjoyed many RV, hiking, cross-country ski trips. They also enjoyed 24 cruises in the US and to many other countries, New Zealand being one of their favorites. Jim was a very kind, caring, generous and loving husband and friend to many!

Jim was a member of the Grand Junction Outing Club, and the Newcomers Club. He volunteered at the VA and the Grand Junction Visitor Center.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marge of Grand Junction, brother David (Margaret), brother Robert (Theresa) both of Albuquerque, sister Arlene of Branson, MO, sister-in-law Arlene Fitterer of Las Vegas, NV and brother-in-law James Fitterer (Jean) of Bismark, ND, and

many nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of Jim’s Life will be Friday, Nov. 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado, 2830 Riverside Pkwy, Grand Junction, CO 81501. A reception to follow at Horizon Towers at 1111 Horizon Dr., Grand Junction, 81506.
