Hugh George Sieber, born to Elvira and John Sieber on August 15, 1932, died peacefully on August 13, 2025.
Hugh was a rancher and longtime resident of Molina, Colorado. After graduating from Plateau Valley High School, he was accepted to DU and briefly attended before returning home to dedicate his life to helping his parents farm and ranch. He continued their legacy by raising and improving a herd of registered Suffold sheep, farming crops, hunting, fishing, and gardening to provide for his family. Hugh also was a full time Ditch Rider for Collbran Conservancy Water District and was a Board Member for Cottonwood Lakes. Even after retiring from the Conservancy, he continued to be available for help and advice on water issues.
Hugh met his wife, Mary and her four daughters in 1973. They were married in 1974. Hugh imparted the value of hard work, sacrifice, and service to others to his stepchildren. Hugh's extended family loved visiting the ranch and spending time with their uncle. Hugh was a good neighbor, friend, and always generous with his time and knowledge. He enjoyed the history of the area and the West. His interests included archaeology and geology. He also trained numerous sheepdogs over the years that adored him. He was an expert horseman and enjoyed gathering and working cattle.
Hugh is survived by his wife Mary and his stepdaughters Lisa, Gail, Jennifer, and Elnora; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews all who loved him dearly.
A graveside service will be held at Mesa Cemetery in Mesa, Colorado on Wednesday, August 20th at 9:00 a.m..
Donations may be made in Hugh's honor to HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction, Colorado.
