George B. Brown Jr.

March 13, 1950 — April 26, 2025

George Burnham Brown, Jr. of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025. He was born March 13, 1950, in Washington, DC to George Burnham Brown and Mary Loraine (White) Brown.

George graduated from Gar-Field High School in Woodbridge, Virgina. He attended Northern Virginia Community College and George Mason College in Fairfax, Virginia studying for a degree in Business Administration. George worked for 33 years as a Maintenance Technician for the McDonald’s Corporation in Annandale, Virginia where he did everything from flipping hamburgers to inventory control and customer relations. In his spare time, he enjoyed his passion of photography, taking pictures of models for their portfolios and aspiring actresses/singers.

After retiring early, George moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 2005 to enjoy the “Great American West”. After arriving in Grand Junction, he worked for four years at The Glacier Ice Arena as a Concession Associate and enjoyed his passion as a photographer, taking pictures for Colorado Mesa University Dance and Theater events along with all sporting events for the School District 51 Athletic Department. As a photographer, George filled the lives of many families with photos of their children throughout their school years and became friends with many of the parents. He was affectionately referred to by some students as "Charlie Brown" due to the bright yellow shirts he wore while photographing sporting events.

When George became ill and could no longer live by himself, he transitioned to Grand Villa Assisted Living where he met many great new friends. As the ‘youngster’, he helped residents and staff with events and became the resident- photographer. His Cousin Peggy K. (White) Rupp and Cousin-in-Law Jimmie D. Rupp gratefully assisted George during his last few years and enjoyed the closeness of having George as part of their family. Stephanie Wade, George's very close friend, provided support for George in his times of need and gave comfort to the family, knowing that he was in loving hands when they were not in Grand Junction.

George was preceded in death by his father, George Burnham Brown; mother, Mary Loraine (White) Brown; and half-brother, Lacy Jones.

George’s wishes were to not have a public funeral. However, many of his friends have planned private memorials to remember George for the great person that he was.
