Eric Ayers, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at the age of 69 in Grand Junction, Colorado. Born on June 17, 1956, in New York, Eric’s journey through life was marked by love, generosity, and a deep commitment to his family.

Eric proudly served in the United States Army, a testament to his dedication and sense of duty. After his military service, he returned to civilian life and devoted himself to fostering connections with those he cared about deeply. His 26 years of marriage to his loving wife, Paula, were filled with joy and companionship. Together, they found happiness in shared interests, particularly watching sports such as soccer and football. These moments spent cheering on their favorite teams became cherished memories, showcasing their bond.

In addition to his passion for sports, Eric had a profound love for reading, often delving into various genres that broadened his horizons and ignited his imagination. He also took great pride in his yard, finding satisfaction in tending to it and enhancing the beauty of his home. His two Border Collies, Austin and Shelby, were ever-present companions, embodying his love for animals and his enjoyment of outdoor life.

Eric's family was of utmost importance to him. He is survived by his wife Paula, his sister Robin (Gerald) Holden, his sister Dorian (Jesse) Henley, and Uncle Carl Ayers. He was a proud uncle to his nieces Sarah Waltisperger, Catherine Jimerson, Lauren Holden, and nephew Nicholas Henley. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his sister-in-law Jody Ayers.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Norma Ayers, and his brother, Leif Ayers. While they have departed, their memory continues to live on through the love and stories shared amongst those who knew them.

He will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and lively spirit, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. His legacy of love and camaraderie will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
