Eleanor Ruth Clymer (Duncan), 90, passed away on June 1, 2025, after a short bout with liver cancer. Born on May 26, 1935, in Del Norte, CO, Eleanor was the daughter of Ray and Ruth Duncan. In 1936, her family moved to Mesa, CO, where she was raised on a ranch with her four siblings. They rode horses to the one-room schoolhouse. This began her love of riding and exploring the outdoors. Eleanor graduated from Palisade High School in 1953 and was honored as Homecoming Queen. On May 12, 1954, Eleanor married the love of her life, Sterling 'Duane' Clymer. They built a life ranching and dairying on the Clymer family's homeplace, settled in 1913. With their five children, they operated Clymer's Rose Glen Dairy and Drive-in through the 1970s.
Eleanor had an adventurous spirit and loved to be on the go. Her 13 grandchildren often referred to her as "Granny go-go" because her calendar was always full. In her younger days, she loved to trail ride and logged thousands of miles in training before becoming a NATRC champion. She also loved skiing and skied until she was 85 years old. Eleanor traveled the world and equally loved traveling to visit grandkids and great grandkids. She attended ball games, performances, conventions, and every big moment for all. She loved snowmobiling and riding ATVs and camping with her multi-generational friends. After Duane's passing “Elli' joined the River City Singles group involving herself by organizing outings and events with her many friends.
She is survived by her daughters Ramona (Randy) Jaeger of Silt, CO, and Leta (Frank) Nieslanik of Grand Junction and her sons, Raymond Clymer, and Sterling Clymer, both of Grand Junction; by her sisters Annabelle Petersen of Hawaii, and Addie Walcher of Palisade; by 13 grandchildren Nate ,Nikki ,Nolan, Nichelle, Mariah, Morgan, Maketa, Aaron, Carlee, Torie, Tanisha, Darrel, Blake and 26 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Sterling 'Duane' Clymer (1934-1997), her cherished Daughter Lana Clymer (1960-2023), her brother Raymond Duncan and her sister Ella May Leanord.
Eleanor, Elli, Gran, Gigi – she was a woman with unstoppable energy and a zest for life. She made life exciting and somehow always made you feel like you were her favorite part of it. She created a legacy of laughter, adventure, and unconditional love. To know Eleanor Clymer was to love her.
