David Earl Hooker

David Earl Hooker, age 67, passed away on October 10, 2026. Born in Fruita, Colorado, on December 2, 1958, to Emery and Sandra Hooker, David spent his life building a legacy rooted in hard work, dedication, a love for the open rails, and a wonderful sense of playfulness.

After a long and fulfilling career, David retired as a Locomotive Engineer from Union Pacific Railroad, taking immense pride in navigating the tracks with skill and responsibility. Away from the rails, David’s hands were rarely still. Whether he could be found at the drag races feeling the thrill of the track, working on cars, building custom furniture, or meticulously turning pens on his lathe, he poured his creativity and patience into everything he crafted.

Above all else, David's greatest joy was his family. His grandchildren, Emily and Lucas, were the absolute light of his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, often found right alongside them causing mischief and getting into trouble in the best possible way.

David is survived by his loving wife, Tammie; his daughter, Becky (son-in-law, Josh Osborne); his son, Marcus; and his treasured grandchildren, Emily and Lucas. He leaves behind cherished memories, handcrafted keepsakes, a tireless work ethic, and a family who loved him beyond measure. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Sandra Hooker.

A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held on Friday, October 16, at 11:00 AM at Bookcliff Baptist Church. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories, honor his journey, and celebrate the remarkable man he was.
