Adam Lee Hamilton, age 45, passed away in Crested Butte SkyView on December 16, 2025. A proud native of Oregon, he was born to his mother and father on September 14, 1980.
Adam was a man of many talents and a heart filled with love for learning, expression, music, art and especially the people around him. He was a self-taught musician who played the guitar and piano, a painter of landscapes and night skies, and a craftsman who put his heart and soul into everything he created.
Growing up in Crested Butte, he attended Crested Butte Academy and Gunnison Valley Schools, where he nurtured his passion for learning as a continuous journey toward self-discovery and evolution. In his work, Adam was a gifted mechanic, a skilled carpenter known for his precision and creativity, and a professional painter of luxury homes. His passion for restoring antique cars and furniture led him to establish his own business, Hamilton Finishes & Restorations. It was never just a job for Adam, but a way to share his love for the arts and craftsmanship with the world.
Adam's generosity knew no bounds. He was always there for a friend in need, offering not just practical help but also a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. His love for his family was immeasurable. He was an adoring father to his 17-year-old son Collin, a protective brother to his sisters, and a cherished uncle to his precious niece and nephews. His love for people, in all their unique and diverse forms, was a testament to his generous spirit and warm heart.
Adam is preceded in death by his mother, Rhonda Louise Miller, and his sister, Alexandria Tenille Bannon.
He is survived by his son, Collin Hamilton of Massachusetts; his father, Gary (Pops) Hamilton of Michigan; his sisters, Jessica Koppell of Alamosa, CO, Jennifer (Jenny) Bannon of Denver, CO, Tiffany Willaims of Battlefield, Indiana, Dalynn Trujillo of Crested Butte, CO, and Jackqualine Creed of Gunnison, CO; and his brother, Christopher Mceldowney of Michigan. He also shared a special bond with his loyal canine companion, Calvin, whose companionship brought him comfort, joy, and unwavering loyalty throughout the years.
A celebration of Adam's life will be held at the Crested Butte Arts Center, in the Grace Atrium.603 Elk Ave, Crested Butte, Colorado 81224, on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, from 12:00pm to 3pm.We Thank you from the family for sharing in the celebration of life and honoring his memory. all who knew and loved Adam to join us in celebrating his life and honoring his memory.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire us as we go on.
